On October 13, 2023 The Narragansett Electric Company d/b/a Rhode Island Energy, in consultation with the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources and the Rhode Island Division of Public Utilities and Carriers, have issued an RFP for Long-term Contracts for Offshore Wind Energy Projects pursuant to the Affordable Clean Energy Security Act, R.I. Gen. Laws ch. 39-31.
