On Friday, December 19, 2025 the Narragansett Electric Company d/b/a Rhode Island Energy, along with Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Vermont, issued a multi-state Request for Proposals (RFP) to identify competitive proposals for renewable energy and associated transmission infrastructure in Northern Maine. The Maine Public Utilities Commission released the RFP with participation from the other states, including any state-specific criteria. This initiative aims to identify competitively priced renewable resources for our customers. Should Rhode Island Energy tentatively advance any project contracts because of this procurement effort, they will be subject to review and approval by the Public Utilities Commission.
